Star Wars: Ahsoka (Season 1)
This was pretty close to being precisely what I expected, which is both a good and bad thing. Starting with the negative first: this would’ve been a whole lot better if it was animated. It’s certainly not bad by any means, but if they utilized the Clone Wars animation style, it would’ve completely kicked butt. That being said, also bringing back the characters from Rebels was certainly a huge treat for me. Was it necessary…..not really, but I can see the vision. Either way, I’m super glad it happened. I’m curious to see where all of this leads, and what season two will hold. I’m a bit skeptical how it’s gonna tie into the sequel trilogy, with Thrawn and the beginning of the First Order and all that jazz. Anyways, the writing for this season was certainly not the best in terms of Star Wars shows. On one end, you have Clone Wars and Andor, and on the other, you have this. Again, it’s not a bad show, but I felt very spoon fed for a lot of it. The storyline itself was decent, but the episode progression felt slow and drawn out, and the dialogue never felt natural at all. But if you can look past that, then it’s a great show. The action doesn’t disappoint (except for the occasionally choppy choreography), but it’s still nice to see some lightsaber action. Also, the additional lore behind the Rebels gang (and Ahoksa, of course) is fun, though again, not necessary. The acting was good, but not Andor levels, and the character translation from animation to live action was solid. Overall, it’s a good season of Star Wars, and I can’t wait to see what season two (?) holds. I trust Dave Filoni. I would recommend this to all Star Wars fans. This season is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
