Inside (2007)
Definitely up there with some of the more disturbing films I’ve seen. Personally, I was not really disturbed, just because I’ve seen so much junk and I’m very desensitized. But it’s certainly not for anyone who loves babies. Don’t worry, the baby doesn’t die, but…..well, you’ll see. Poor CGI baby. The story isn’t anything astounding, as it’s basically every slasher/thriller ever. A crazy person tries to kill an innocent person, other people get involved, those people die, then a gory finale. That’s about it. However, I was extremely satisfied with the ending, mostly because it’s one of the very few films where the villain wins. I need more of that. However, I thought a lot of the story was a drag. I just never really could get into it, and it was a typical home invasion plot. It does stand out because of the goriness, which was grossly epic and probably traumatizing to most. Most of the blood was pretty realistic and the makeup was great. CGI baby was a bit too CGI (yes, I know it was 2007), and I honestly couldn’t take it seriously at points. Visually, it was very dark and drabby, which does work at times, but also took me out of it at times. The moment where the psycho lady slowly vanishes into the doorway was absolutely awesome and terrifying, and the lighting worked beautifully. Then there’s some scenes that are piss colored and just didn’t really work for me. There’s not a whole lot to look at. Overall, this is decent, but has room for improvement. It’s kind of ‘Terrifier’ meets ‘The Strangers’. I’d like to revisit it again, and I’d probably recommend it to most thriller fans. Especially if you like blood.
