Obi-Wan Kenobi
I will die on the hill that this is a fabulous show. No, it’s not the best Star Wars show out there, and no, the writing isn’t always impeccable. But look, it brings back one of the most iconic characters in the whole universe, and adds so much more to the lore of Obi-Wan, Darth Vader, and Leia. Many can argue that they don’t need to keep adding more lore, which I can understand, but not in this case. There’s such a big time gap between Episode III and Episode IV, so to be able to dive into what’s going on (with the Empire and Obi-Wan) in that time gap truly made me happy. I’ve always been such a big Obi-Wan fan, so this show is a dream come true for me. The storyline is fairly simple, building Leia’s relationship with Obi-Wan at a much earlier point than what we previously thought. Then you mix in some Inquistor’s, bring back Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader, and throw in Ice Cube Jr and there you have it. It’s a bit silly at times, with a very noticeable Disney Star Wars quality, with both the production and the writing. There’s moments that feel out of place, and some that don’t feel continuous with the main Star Wars timeline. But I don’t always like to nit pick those things. Sometimes it’s nice to just sit back and enjoy the characters and the world building. So that’s what you should do with this. Ewan McGregor cements himself in science fiction history (even though he already had) as one of the best interpretations of a character in any piece of media. He does Sir Alec Guinness justice. The rest of the cast is pretty mediocre, though Vivien Lyra Blair is pretty hilarious as Leia. The final episode is absolutely fantastic, with Obi-Wan and Vader’s duel adding so much more depth to their history. Man, I miss seeing Obi-Wan and Anakin on screen together. Anyways, that’s about all I need to say. I think it’s a very underrated show that has plenty of fun moments and great fights, and though sometimes goofy, that’s the Star Wars tradition. There’s no Star Wars project that isn’t a little bit silly. I would recommend this to all Star Wars fans. This show is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
