Death of the Pastor’s Wife
I have too many thoughts about this, most of which I can’t say out loud, because they are very personal opinions. But I think everyone can agree that JP Miller is a steaming pile of shit, and he should be put in prison for life. Whether or not he actually killed Mica, we may not know, but either way, it’s time for something to happen to him. This docuseries takes a look at the life and death of Mica Miller (though I hate using her last name, because again, JP is a piece of shit, but yeah, anyways. It’s a very sad but interesting limited series that does more than just look at a woman’s life and death. It takes a broad (and quick) look at religious control, men in the church, and religious cult-like behavior. The first moments of the first episode set the expectation for the three episodes, and interviews with the social media footage helps build an immersive world that, unfortunately, tells the story too well. I hate to say that someone’s death, and the instances surrounding it, are used for entertainment, but that’s often the case with these series. But, I think this is a good series to use as a warning, rather than entertainment. It involves circumstances that too many women have experienced, which is why it’s a demonstration of toxic male behavior (and possibly religious psychosis) that needs to be seen. That’s just my two cents, but I’m also a man, so I really have no input. Either way, justice for Mica until the day I die. Overall, this series is quick and to the point, but it’s quite impactful. I would recommend it to all true crime fans. This series is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
