The Last of Us (Season 2)
Before I start reviewing, I just want to remind you that I haven’t played any of these games, so I’m solely reviewing the show, not the game or how well it was adapted. That is one reason why I enjoy watching this show, because I can judge solely from a TV standpoint, as opposed to both game and show. Upon finishing it, I think the first season is still better, as well as being my favorite. The first season was so special because of the great chemistry between Joel and Ellie. Although that is definitely shown in this season, it didn’t feel as prevalent, except for a couple episodes. That’s not a knock on the show at all, they’re just following the game. It’s just sad that Joel…..you know. It definitely shaped the entire season, both in a positive and negative way (mostly positive). Speaking of which, episode two was absolutely generational, and one of the better TV episodes I’ve seen this decade. But anyways, the storyline is moving briskly, and I’m very excited to see what season three will hold. The entire cast did a great job, specifically from Bella Ramsey, Isabela Merced, and Pedro Pascal (for what screen time he had haha). People crap on Bella Ramsey so much, mostly because she looks different than the game version of Ellie, but she still did a great job. Catherine O’Hara and Jeffrey Wright were also a plus. I guess my last thought would be that the action sequences were all awesome, the clickers were all very well designed, and the cinematography was drabby but beautiful. There’s a lot of loose ends that still need tying up, but that’s hopefully what the next season (and maybe a season four?) will be for. Overall, it’s a very solid season that is full of tension, action, suspense, and drama. I love how it’s such a great blend of character drama and fighting zombie thingies. It doesn’t lean too heavily on one or the other. I would recommend this to all zombie/suspense fans, but make sure to see the first season. This season is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
