• As a big fan of Hawkeye, I was very excited to watch this show the first time, and on a rewatch, it still holds up, and I think I even enjoyed it more. The first episode starts a little slow, but by the second, you’re completely hooked in until the very end. The story is pretty good, with a nice street level plot, rather than something big and multiversal. Some people might complain about that, but I think it makes it work. It’s almost like a mix of Daredevil and Spider-Man, just with Hawkeye and Kate Bishop instead. I also think it does good at relating to the audience on a personal level through grief. The show uses Natasha’s death to help explore more in depth into the character of Clint. You definitely feel more connected to him than you do in any other MCU project, except for maybe Endgame. All the other characters are great, even the evil or obnoxious ones. Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop is generational casting, and I absolutely adore her. I need her in every single MCU project going forward. The introduction of Echo was also amazing, and Yelena’s character exploration (minimal, but still there), makes you love her even more. No matter what, it’s a very strong show in terms of showcasing characters, and not just in a cameo fashion. Each person adds their own flare, with each performance being memorable and strong. All the choreography and fight sequences were pretty well done, and again, the street level threats made this feel grounded and gritty. Plus, seeing more of Hawkeye’s technology and trick arrows was absolutely awesome. The score was good, though not super noticeable, and the soundtrack was chock full of Christmas hits, which heavily emphasizes the Christmas time and setting. It’s not overkill, but just enough to make this a good show to watch in the fall/winter season. Overall, I would most definitely recommend this for all MCU fans.
