Unknown Number: The High School Catfish
I saw some buzz about this on Instagram the other day, so I figured it was worth a watch. Well, it’s certainly something that isn’t what you expect, unless you’re already familiar with the story. I feel like I remember seeing the news article about it a couple years ago, so it was already in the back of my head somewhere. It’s a shocking documentary about cyberbullying and how not everyone is who you think they are. On technical terms, it’s not a documentary that’s anything outrageous or groundbreaking. It presents information in a linear perspective and gets voices, facts, and opinions from the people involved. I liked the use of bodycam footage, so it’s not just a bunch of interviews. However, I didn’t like how they got the perp to reenact their crimes. That was in very poor taste to me. However, the way the twist is presented was very unsuspecting, which I guess is the point. Overall, it's a solid, quick documentary that definitely captures your attention, but isn’t anything super crazy. Just be careful out there. I would recommend it to most true crime fans.
