• Edward Norton is everything Mark Ruffalo tries to be, and I'm dying on that hill. Of course, when it comes to Hulk, the all time best will always be Lou Ferrigno. But when it comes to modern day Hulk, Norton is THE one. And that sentiment goes to this film as a whole. I think it's so massively underrated, and I loved it even more the second time around. It's been nearly four years since I watched it, so I didn't remember most of what happened. That being said, this was a refreshing rewatch and the film holds up pretty well in my eyes. I suppose I can understand all the critiques, but I will stand by this film until I die. The story is very Marvel-esque, and I don't really have to elaborate on that. It follows the typical MCU path (despite this only being the second MCU entry), so after you've seen all of them, this one kind of blends in with the others. It doesn't necessarily stand out in the writing department. On the flipside, it's fun to watch Hulk go ham on a bunch of people. Big strong muscly man only wearing shorts.......see where I'm going with this? No, I'm kidding (not). Anyways, the plot is nothing extraordinary, but all the action scenes are what help make this stick out to me. The cast is stacked but nothing phenomenal, though Norton is obviously the highlight for, as I stated earlier. It's so unfortunate to me that he was replaced by Ruffalo. Zero hate towards Ruffalo, I just think Norton was IT. But whatever. This is also my all time favorite Hulk design (behind Ferrigno). The detail to each muscle and vein really makes Hulk real to me, even though he's obviously a big blob of CGI. But the special effects are pretty solid for 2008. Sometimes goofy, but in the best way. The score is also pretty awesome to me, though it’s nothing notable. Kind of your typical superhero/action sound, but it makes itself known, especially in the final battle. That’s about it. This is a fun film that has easily been swept under the rug by some, but I think it’s great and I love it. I would recommend it to all superhero/Marvel fans.
