Avengers: Infinity War
Hollow. Bleak. Awesome. Beautiful. Horrific. Those are my five words to describe this. Infinity War is definitely entertaining, very well made, and quite possibly the greatest MCU film to date. There are so many scenes that totally energize you and keep you on the edge of your seat. Well, that's actually the entire film. Every single character brings so much depth and power to the story, and they all rival the infamous antagonist. I was skeptical of my likeness for Thanos going into this for the first time, but I was definitely surprised by how much I liked him. I mean, I'm not a fan of the whole genocide thing, but everyone loves a good villain. He brings such an amazing and strong presence of evil, which is what helps make this film so great. Not only is his character design pretty sick (though goofy), but his level of evilness is also insanely awesome. He’s arguably the greatest MCU villain of all time, and he’s pretty hard to top. Like I said earlier, the rest of the characters are also awesome, and it basically takes every MCU hero we’ve seen up until this point and throws them into one film. It’s so exciting to watch them try to stop Thanos, which helps boost the story forward. It constantly keeps you on your toes, which is great for these types of films, especially with its runtime. I loved the different settings as well, as being able to explore the physical universe in the MCU was really intriguing. Seeing the different planets was fun, and also exploring more of Wakanda is nice, considering this film is directly after 'Black Panther'. The music was extremely good, and it constantly has a fun, action, superhero feel to it, yet it's also very haunting and emotional. It was beautiful during the serious scenes, whereas in the fight scenes, every moment was filled with powerful, intense sounds. The VFX are also insanely good, with quite a few visual shots that don't even phase me as being fake. Some of the green screens are a bit noticeable (looking at you, Titan), but it's nowhere near bad. Now, for the elephant in the room. Of course, this film has one of the best and most depressing endings in any film I’ve seen. I obviously won’t say what happens, but if you haven’t seen this film or don’t know anything about it, then stay away from Google. It totally catches you off guard, as well as punches you in the gut. I couldn’t imagine watching this in the theater, and I really wish I saw it when it came out. It truly leaves you speechless, which to me, is a good thing. Overall, this film is perfect in every sense, and even the tiny little nitpicks aren't enough to drag this down from 100%. I would recommend it to all Marvel/superhero fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
