Nymph()maniac Vol. 2
Definitely not as good as the first volume. I’m glad these two parts are indeed in two parts, because I couldn’t imagine sitting through a four hour version. Even crazier, the extended cut is five and a half hours, and there’s no way I could sit through that. Of course, I literally just watched these two volumes back to back, but still. At least I took a small break between the two. My brain feels so clogged right now. Not necessarily in a bad way, but watching these back to back is a lot to process. There’s really not much to add in terms of storyline, as this is literally just a continuation of the first volume. It finishes out Joe’s story, in a way that I wasn’t expecting. I think the ending of this film is absolutely atrocious and makes no sense at all. SPOILER: Having Seligman try to violate Joe while she’s sleeping is absolutely the worst possible decision to make for his character. He spends the entire time listening to Joe, offering advice and support, and at the last second, he’s just like the rest of the guys. It almost completely ruins the film for me. But anyways, the acting remains on par with the first volume, the music was whatever, and this one was a little harder to sit through. Most of the scenes with Jamie Bell were pretty uncomfortable, and again, it’s a very graphic film, so I was relieved when it was over. I know I probably won’t watch these again, but I’m glad I’ve seen them just to say I’ve seen them.
