A Certain Kind of Death
This will be short because I don’t have a huge amount to say. It’s definitely a documentary that you haven’t seen before, mostly because of how up close and personal it gets with the deceased. It’s not for you if you have a weak stomach. From a filmmaking perspective, it’s pretty decent, because of how in depth it goes about coroner, mortuary, and investigative procedures. It talks about what happens to the deceased if they don’t have next of kin, which is kind of interesting. However, a good chunk of this was very slow moving and honestly a little boring. It’s just shot very plainly and didn’t really keep my interest. Everything shown inside the mortuary was pretty intriguing, and any of the scenes with bodies were gross but educational. It went back and forth between interesting and meh. That’s all there is to say. I think I’m being a little too harsh on this, I just didn’t care for it as much as I wanted to. I would probably recommend it to most documentary fans, though.
