It Chapter Two
Although this is a small step down from the first film, I still think it’s a decent sequel. Now, a word of warning, this is a little under three hours. It definitely takes its time building up the characters and giving them each their own development, which is both positive and negative. I think it’s cool how each adult gets their chance to face their fears and learn something new about themselves, all in the name of defeating It. However, it definitely drags out a little bit, so it’s possible you may get restless. I didn’t really, but maybe a tiny bit. But in the end, you feel much more connected to everyone, and it’s a nicer wrap up. The story takes place twenty-seven years after the first, with all the returning characters coming back to defeat It once and for all. On that note, the whole film is basically a rehash of the first one. They show up, they have their differences but ultimately get along, and fight evil. One thing this film does that several films have failed on doing, is having adult versions of a character, and all of them being extremely well cast. All the adults look and act so much like the kids: physically, emotionally, mannerisms, everything. Such a great job by the casting department. The lore between the kids is also expanded for the better. Especially R+E. Broke my heart is what that did. That’s really all I feel like saying for this review. It’s not a crazy good sequel, but it’s a mild and decent follow up. A lot of elements were reused, but still some new ones, and a partially new cast. I’d recommend it if you liked the first one.
