Andor (Season 1)
Cassian Andor wouldn’t have been the first character choice that I would've made a series about, but boy I’m glad that they did. He just seemed like such a one and done character, but that's EXACTLY why this show works. It expands so much on a nobody and piles on beautiful lore to this universe. It’s nice to have a character that you know very little about, because it makes it more fun and interesting to learn about their past and backstory. Rather than a retelling, you get a completely new origin. I have always liked Cassian since seeing Rogue One, so even though I was skeptical about this series at first, the writers did a great job with giving him a great story. The first few episodes immediately suck you in, and it only elevates from there. The characters that were introduced and used were really great, and this show doesn't have a single insignificant character. Everybody has a piece to play, and they all fit together beautifully. I really enjoyed the story of Cassian being stuck in the Imperial prison, and I was especially loved when Andy “The 🐐” Serkis showed up. He did a great job like always, which is no surprise to anyone. Both he and Cassian stole the spotlight for a few episodes, and I seriously enjoyed the “escape the prison” storyline. The season finale was extremely good, and I’d say it’s one of the best season finales I’ve seen in a long time. It does a great job of showing the evils of the Empire, as well as the strength of Rebellion. A minor detail I absolutely loved in the season finale was the marching band. It was really cool to see an actual band that isn’t the Modal Nodes or the Max Rebo Band. It’s the small things like that that makes the show great. Plus, I absolutely lost it when the post-credit scene played. It was unexpected and terrifyingly awesome, and I am really hyped to see what it leads to in Season 2. Overall, this was a well made show, with a great cast consisting of Diego Luna, Andy “The 🐐” Serkis, and Stellan Skarsgard. I would recommend it to all Star Wars fans.
