Stop! That! Train!
I’ll keep this review short and sweet, a perfect parallel to what this film is. Ever since I first read that this was in production, I was so excited, and it lived up to all my expectations. What I expected was a stupid, insanely goofy comedy that serves literally no purpose other than being amazingly queer. That’s exactly what we got, and I’m so happy! Story-wise, you hardly have to use your brain at all. It’s literally just a Glamazonian Express heading straight into a Stormaganza, and they have to save the train. That’s literally it. But it’s so fantastically silly that it works on every level for me. The comedy was very similar to something like ‘The Naked Gun’, using play-on words and physical props and gags. The kind of comedy you’d see in some spoof movie from the early 2000’s. That kind of humor is exactly what makes me laugh the most. In that sense, this film excels. Probably not to most, but certainly to me. I mean, it had more queens than the entire history of the British monarchy. Every film just needs to be gay, and we will never go wrong. The cast was also hilarious, and there is no better selection of queens to make up each role. I was ecstatic that Jujubee and Latrice Royale were in this, seeing as they are among my favorite drag queens. Of course, RuPaul is great as she always is, and there’s a lot of hilarious cameos everywhere. The production design stuck out as well, as it was Barbie-esque and really lives up to the word “Glamazonian”. Finally, the costume design was also on point, accentuating the queerness in a slightly camp but gorgeous way. Overall, this is certainly a dumb film that might seem completely empty to some, but to me, it’s absolutely hilarious and I didn’t have many long breaks between giggles. Definitely my cup of tea. I would recommend it if you like ridiculous, over-the-top comedies. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
