Jesus Camp
I don’t have a super huge amount to say about this documentary. I’ve heard a decent amount about this before watching, and it’s pretty close to what I expected. It’s nothing groundbreaking, and narratively, it doesn’t take a certain stance on Christianity. It just documents the church camp and what and how they teach. It’s interesting watching it as a Christian, because there’s so many things that make me squirm. Such as the kids praying and almost praising a cardboard cutout of George Bush. Or “washing their sins” with bottled store water. There’s a lot of delusion that the kids are being taught. It’s too bad they weren’t raised to think for themselves and worship the way they want to. And that’s really the meat of it. There’s no central plot or POV. You just observe, and see how certain Christian beliefs are being delivered. It was very interesting, and honestly, pretty scary at times. Again, it’s nothing eye opening, but a lot of it is still a bit shocking. I’d recommend it to most everyone, especially if you like to think and analyze religious aspects. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
