Andor (Season 2)
I’m a tad bit late getting into season two, but I haven’t waited as long as I have with some other Star Wars shows. I’m going back and forth between which season of this show I think is better, and which is my favorite. I think, at least as of now, I’m gonna say season two is a small step up from the first, and I did enjoy it more. The original trilogy, and anything involving the Empire, is my all time favorite time period in Star Wars, so slowly watching the growth of both the Empire and the Rebellion is absolutely awesome. It’s a tedious watch, with a lot of politics, but that’s what I’m here for. This will sound bad to say, but I really love harrowing looks into authoritarianism and dictators, because it’s interesting to see how history unfolds and how to make connections to real life. Not like Star Wars actually happened (that we know of), but still. As good as the storyline is for the first season, this one has even more stakes and I was a lot more invested in the characters. I think because there’s just a slow building sense of dread that really gets to you. Again, the politics are intriguing, and I love seeing a mixture of straight up rebellion and more sophisticated approaches to government oppression. Kind of like ‘The Phantom Menace’, but a lot better. The performances are just as good, with Diego Luna and Stellan Skarsgård really bringing their A game. Also, shout out to Denise Gough, and of course, Ben Mendelsohn (where my Director Krennic stans at?). Visually, this season is gorgeous and gritty, with some of the best production design in the entire franchise, and a very solid sense of surroundings. The music was fantastic, the episode lengths were perfect, and this is an extremely good season that surpasses the first. I would recommend it to all Star Wars fans, just make sure to obviously have watched the first season. This season is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
