Boy Meets World
This review has been a long time coming. I finally got around to watching this, and it’s iconic status is why. I didn’t know much about it when I started, but this group of friends is one of my favorite sitcom friend groups I’ve seen. I never really got super attached to any specific character, but I was quite invested in the typical sitcom drama. The structure of the show is pretty simple (and cliche), following Cory, Shawn, and Topanga throughout school and then college. In some ways, it’s a very average show, because I didn’t feel like I was watching something completely new, or something I hadn’t seen before. On the flipside, it’s absolutely hilarious, and balances the comedy well with the drama. Every character has their own personality, and there’s not a single person that blends in with the rest. I wish the show would’ve stuck more with Minkus and Mr. Turner, because I genuinely liked them, but the whole group of characters is still great. I was surprised by how consistent the show is, too. From season one to the finale, all the episodes are good, and there wasn’t a single one I didn’t like. Usually you see some sort of drop off, or dip in quality, but I think it stayed strong. A small complaint is the last season or two, which felt very crammed with drama. It became an adult show, and the relationship/family drama definitely increased, and felt like too much. I think the writers tried to keep the audiences drawn in, so they added in a bunch of stuff at once. It wasn’t bad, and it was just a little overkill at times. I still enjoyed it though, and this is definitely one of my new favorite shows. I would recommend it to most sitcom fans, especially if you like shows such as ‘The Wonder Years’ or ‘Full House’. This show is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
