Spider-Man: Far From Home
I have been, and will always be, a Far From Home truther. F**k the haters! So many people call it the worst Spider-Man film to date, but that’s a load of horse crap. I can’t wrap my head around why, because I think it’s so much fun and has a cool adaptation of Mysterio. It’s certainly not perfect, but I think it’s phenomenal. The overall story is great, and I like some of the subject matter in this film. Even though you have the common hero vs villain storyline, I also like how it takes a look at Peter’s personal life, all while twisting it with a cool utilization of technology. Like Homecoming, he’s young and in school, so seeing his romantic interests and trying to get a girl’s attention really humanizes him. Even though he’s obviously Spider-Man, occasionally you forget he’s a hero, and see him as just a teen. It shows how though someone might have superpowers, they are still like us. The film continues doing a great job of showing Peter’s dual lives, and again, like Homecoming, it shows how he has to live and protect his secret. It also does a good job of showing how to cope with loss, and how to keep someone’s legacy alive. The acting in this film is pretty good, especially Jake Gyllenhaal. He does a memorable and solid job as Mysterio, and I wouldn’t want anybody else in that role. His back and forth between personalities is extremely well done. It’s so sweet when he lures you into a false sense of security, and then pulls your heart out in an almost awesome way. The music was amazing too, and Michael Giacchino continues to deliver. The main theme is so fun to hear, and it brings a great feel to the entire film. The last thing I’ll mention, and the best part of the film, is all the stunning visuals constantly present. I’d say this is easily one of the most visually pleasing and intriguing movies I’ve ever seen. The cinematography is really great, and the effects and CGI are spot on. I’m not gonna specifically say what impressed me the most (spoilers), but there are two certain scenes where I was absolutely absorbed, and you’ll know which ones I mean once you see this. Overall, this film is highly underrated, hugely overrated, and just a fantastic Spider-Man adventure. I would definitely recommend it to all Marvel/superhero fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
