The Conjuring: Last Rites
I don’t know if this will be the final ConjuringVerse film, but seeing as it’s the last film with the Warrens, it’s a very fitting end in my eyes. Using the last case of their career, and how it affected their family and life, was the only right decision. It has the longest runtime in this universe, but I couldn’t really feel the length. I would agree that there are some slow moments put in between the exciting storyline, but those sentimental scenes are what complete the film. Showcasing the Warren's relationship, not just with each other, but with their daughter and (future) son-in-law, is what makes the whole thing so heartwarming for me. Of course, that’s all in between the crazy demon problems and the return of a familiar face. I thought the pacing was good, though there were a couple odd jumps between plot points. Nothing horrendous though. I didn’t think the villains were anything too memorable, but I won’t lie, there were some moments where my heart was racing and thumping. Personally, this is probably the scariest Conjuring film besides the first one. Some scenes just hit right where they needed to. The performances all around were great, especially from versatile actor Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. Their on screen chemistry for the last twelve years has been undeniably magnificent. They can just go ahead and adopt me. I’m really gonna miss seeing them exorcize some demons. And as I said, for their final film, it’s a fitting end. The stakes are high, the tension is thick, and it was downright terrifying but fun. Overall, this is a solid film that really left me satisfied as a big fan of the ConjuringVerse. Especially the wedding scene, with some past characters (and a very special cameo) popping up. It doesn’t blow your mind like the first one does, but it was better than I was expecting it to be. I’d recommend it to all Conjuring fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
