The Devil Wears Prada
I’ve been meaning to watch this for literally so long now, and with the sequel coming out in just over a week, I figured it’s time to educate myself and get cultured. Sure enough, and to no surprise, I absolutely adored this, and can’t believe I’ve gone this long without seeing it. I’m not really a huge fashion person, and if you know me, then you know that my fashion sense is just blue jeans and a graphic tee. But gosh, I loved every aspect of this, from the business side to the actual outfits. Plus, the fantastic four (Hathaway, Streep, Blunt, and Tucci) are all so perfectly casted, that if anyone else played their roles, this film would not be as iconic as it is. Each performance, no matter who is in the spotlight, is always highlighted and each person is a wonderful piece to this stressful puzzle. Plus, may I add that Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly is the most beautiful and luxurious any woman has ever looked in a film. Quote me on that. The story, which is based on Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, was very investing and showcases the anxiety ridden environment of a fashion magazine, and all the ups and downs with it. For so much of the film, I was on edge, constantly trying to keep up with the chaotic atmosphere, but I was still soaking up every second. The costume design was top notch and certainly lives up to the film’s themes. The dresses, the shoes, the makeup, the suits…..everything was there. Both Miranda and Nigel popped off every time they showed up. The score was fantastic, with a killer soundtrack that had me vibing hard. A lot of the film definitely reeked of the mid 2000’s, but I was loving it. Overall, it’s a very fun and hilarious film that still has its serious moments. I absolutely cannot wait for the sequel and to see what it holds. I would recommend this to all comedy/drama fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
