i’m gonna try not to say a lot about this one, solely because if you know too much about it, it’ll completely kill the vibe for you. so let’s keep it short today. a24 is back at it again with a wonderfully executed and well shot slow burn horror film that takes its time getting its hooks into you, yet it doesn’t feel long or slow. in many senses, it’s a lot like ‘hereditary’, where you spend time getting to know the characters and understand their relationships and thoughts, while a slow sense of dread begins creeping over you. this film utilizes sound better than most horror films have, and ever will. it takes the idea of playing audio over a podcast and elevates that to a whole new level. the crazy thing is that it’s nothing too over the top, either. it’s all about listening to small details that crawl into your brain and take it over. it’s great! that’s all I’ll say about it, other than that the performance from nina kiri was very relatable and super authentic. other than that…..you’ll have to watch this to discover everything else. it’s definitely not for everyone, but it’s definitely for me. especially since I have a podcast, it makes it even that more real. anyways, I will recommend this to all horror fans. this film is officially berry approved, so go see it now!
