Zoolander
This watch has been a long time coming, and I don’t know why I waited so long. It was absolutely one of my favorite films I’ve seen in such a long time, and I was laughing from beginning to end. It’s definitely famous for its memes, which were very fun to find and point out. But the best thing about the film is that as stupid as it is, it’s genuinely hilarious. The goofiness and exaggerated acting makes this a shining gem in a pile of early 2000’s comedy crap. There are good comedy films from the 2000’s, but most are generic and cliche. This one has such a great sense of humor, using the fashion industry and modeling as a ploy. I love how it’s borderline espionage, but basically just men staring at the camera making model faces. It’s such an easy plot that you don’t have to think too hard about, yet there’s still something to follow. The cast makes it super enjoyable, too. Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell, Christine Taylor, and Jerry Stiller make a fantastic team, and the amount of epic cameos this has is mind boggling. To name a few, Natalie Portman, James Marsden, David Bowie, Lenny Kravitz, and above all, JAMES LANCE “LANSTEN” BASS. ONE OF MY FAVORITE PEOPLE TO EVER EXIST, AND HE SHOWED UP. I was enthralled and my mind shattered. I love that man. Anyways, the soundtrack was really catchy, with some fun upbeat songs such as “Wake Me Up (Before You Go-Go)”, which is a staple in my music taste. Overall, this film is definitely stupid, but it uses that to its advantage, making an enjoyable, entertaining, and wildly hilarious film. And that best part? It’s only 90 minutes. The perfect length for any comedy. It doesn’t overstay its welcome at all. I’d recommend it to all comedy fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
