Creep 2
I didn’t find this nearly as invigorating at the first, but it does come awfully close. In terms of horror sequels, this is one of the better ones I’ve seen. It stays committed to the genre and the mood, which isn’t always the case. Sometimes horror gets very sloppy and made just because it can, but this film explores more into Josef/Aaron/Creep’s mind. It adds a deeper sense of realism, while still being entertaining. Much like the first film, there’s really not a structured plot, or script. It’s all about authenticity and being as natural as possible. Life imitates art, yet in this case, art imitates life. I think the only reason why this film isn’t as good as the first is because there are some cheesy moments, but they help add to the realism. Also, there aren’t as many surprises. You know that Creep is malicious and crazy, so you already know something’s going to happen. You just don’t know when or how. The performance from Mark Duplass continues to be extremely unnerving, and he really makes you want to be sympathetic towards him, yet there’s no way you can. In my eyes, he should be as iconic as Ghostface or Freddy Krueger. Overall, this is a solid sequel which is nearly as good as the first, and really unsettles you. It’s fun, but it’s ominous. I would recommend it to all found footage/horror fans, just make sure to see the first one. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
