Peacemaker (Season 2)
Do I think this season is better than the first? It comes close, but it just barely falls short. I think the biggest reason is because it takes a lot of time to build up to certain events, and definitely doesn’t have as much action that the first one has. The first five episodes definitely drag out. However, everything just said is positive, and makes this season stand out from the first. I do think the first is the better season. But this one is infinitely awesomer when it comes to the character development. So much of the focus is all about Chris, his relationships with his family and friends, and then the supporting characters and their drama. It hits very deep at times, and shows why good writing matters. It could’ve been cameo slop with a bunch of random fights. But it’s not. It’s about love, trust, and reaching out to others. The biggest reason why the first one is better is because of how mindblowing I think it was. This season takes its time and stretches out the events in a way that could be slightly boring. Not to say it was, at all. I loved every second. But if I had a complaint that would be it. Everything else is great. It does the “multiverse” in a really great way that’s new and original, probably better than any multiverse project in the last few years. The performances were all amazing, with John Cena bringing his all time best to this. He only gets better as Peacemaker, and it’s extremely evident. Danielle Brooks was incredible as well, especially in the finale. Again, this season is all about the people, not just brainless entertainment. Everyone brings heart and soul. Overall, it’s a beautiful and fun addition to the DCU, and some of James Gunn’s best work. I would recommend it to all DC/superhero fans. This season is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
