Anaconda (1997)
A quick, boring review for a quick, boring film. Well, I think “film” is too heavy of a word, we might have to stick with "movie” on this one. I’m kidding, it’s still a film, just not a very good one. I quite honestly have very little to talk about so let’s cut to the chase. It’s incredibly boring (as I opened this up with), and it didn’t hold my attention for long. I paid attention in the first half, mostly because I was having fun making fun of it. After that, I just zoned off and found it very tricky to care about the characters, the plot, or the action. The writing is very basic and weak, with shallow characters and a reptile antagonist that hardly antagonizes until the very end. The acting was pretty sucky, though it could’ve been worse. Surprisingly, both the practical effects and CGI were (mostly) decent, considering this was low budget and came out in 1997. Certainly some jarring moments, but it wasn’t that bad. There isn’t too much more to say. It completely sucks, isn’t super exciting, and basically all the characters are obnoxious and horrible (except for Danny). I’m glad I’ve seen it just to say I’ve seen it, but I certainly won’t be watching it again, nor would I recommend it unless you REALLY like corny, crappy action/monster movies.
