Star Wars: The Acolyte
You know what, I’m gonna say it: this is a good show and I’m tired of pretending it’s not. Now, I didn’t watch it when it first came out, just because I didn’t necessarily have the interest. However, now that I’m on a Star Wars run, I’ve finally gotten around to it, and I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would. Sure, it has its low points, but there aren't that many. It sets itself far enough from the Skywalker Saga to feel original and disconnected, which is a good thing. You can kind of put all the main stuff aside and just focus on a new story with new characters. Maybe that’s problematic for some, but not me. The writing isn’t anything super noteworthy, and I can understand some complaints about everything surrounding the twins, their powers, and conception. There’s also the stuff with the lightsaber whip and the kyber crystal turning red, which I’m not too sure about, but whatever. Anyways, the story is interesting to say the least, but I liked it. Seeing more Jedi content was much needed for me, mostly because a lot of the recent shows or post Jedi Order. Most of the characters didn’t seem to amount to anything super memorable, though I was definitely a fan of Sol and Qimir. Dude, when I say that Qimir rocks, he f***ing ROCKS. I can’t even explain it, but he’s one of the best Star Wars villains outside of the prequel and original trilogy. He just does it for me. Manny Jacinto’s performance as Qimir was stoic and bold and I need more of him asap. Everyone else was decent enough, and Amandla Stenberg was very strong. The lightsaber choreography is probably the best I’ve seen in a Star Wars project since Episode III. Definitely not on the same level, but much better than the sequel trilogy. My last thought is this: to those of you who thought this was too “woke” and pushed an “agenda”, then that says much more of you as a person than as a fan. Don’t review bomb something just because you hate representation. The Star Wars universe is the biggest universe ever created, so if you see someone that looks different, acts different, or lives different, then just accept that you are close minded and a bigot. Anyways, rant over. I would recommend this to most Star Wars fans, except the ones that live in their moms basement ranting about woke ideology. Star Wars is for everyone! This show is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
