Friendship
I remember when this came out and I was pretty excited for it, but then I got lazy and ended up not seeing it in theaters. I don’t necessarily regret missing it, though watching it with an audience would’ve been hilarious. I do regret not seeing it sooner. It really is one of the funniest films of this year, and has made me completely interested in Tim Robinson. I’ve seen plenty of Paul Rudd, but I’ve only seen quick clips of Tim Robinson, so I fully understand why people love him so much. His performance was completely hysterical, and one of the most whimsical and hilarious acting jobs I’ve ever seen. Every single line that came out of his mouth was just fantastic. Even in the most serious moment. The rest of the cast is decent, and Paul Rudd is good as always, but Tim needs every award ever. The story was fairly simple, but still pretty deep into the male mind. I found it extremely relatable, and I think every man will. It’s all about loneliness, desperation, disappointment, and just being loved. One thing men value the most in life is friendship, and this film hits the whole subject right on the nose. It’s easy to get attached to one person, and when they’re ready to move on, or start spending more time with someone else, you really feel like a piece is gone. This film perfectly projects that, along with several other themes and ideas. It understands the male mind well. Moving on, the score and soundtrack were really good and added more to the mood than what I thought was possible. Finally, the visuals were slightly drabby but nice for the eyes. Overall, it’s hilarious and will be personal to most men, and though it’s not anything phenomenal, it will be very memorable over the next several years. There’s a reason A24 is my production company. I would recommend this to all comedy/drama fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
