Pink Flamingos
This is what dreams are made of. This is what I aspire to make. This is disgusting, despicable, vile, and perverse. But it’s perfect. 10/10. No notes. John Waters is the blueprint. He is the Pope of Trash. In all seriousness, this film quite literally has changed me, and I don’t think I will ever see life, or filmmaking, the same. You have no idea how this has revitalized me. You’re about to see a lot of Waters influence in my future projects. I don’t know how, but it will be there. This film is one of the most thought-provoking, disturbing pieces of work I’ve ever seen, and I want to rewatch it right now. It’s an hour and a half, and basically compilations of filth that follow a very simple storyline, yet it’s one of the greatest pieces of media ever made. Words can’t describe this film, other than what I mentioned in the first few sentences. You have to experience it with your own senses. All five of them. Divine is my queen, John Waters is my king, and I have so much clarity now. You don’t need a studio or big budget to make something memorable. You just need your imagination and a camera. All hail John Waters. All hail Divine. Filth is my politics. Filth is my life!
