Regretting You
I want to start off by saying that this is definitely one of those “it’s so bad, it’s good” kind of rom-com. I was feeling mixed going into it, just because I knew it was probably gonna be crappy. The only big reason I wanted to see it was because of Mason Thames and Dave Franco. However, I came out of it pretty satisfied and I honestly loved it. One of the main reasons it was so good was because of the theater experience. Nearly the entire theater was just giggly women who reacted to literally everything in the funniest way possible. Every kiss, every romantic gesture, every meaningful moment was immediately accompanied by gasps and laughs, and it was awesome. My rating should probably be much lower, but it really was a good time. The story, which is based off Colleen Hoover’s book, was extremely stupid and very cliche at times, but if you put in the effort to invest yourself in this, it really does have some heart to it. By the end, I was fully emotionally involved in each character and what their futures with each other looked like. The writing was awful, but again, it’s so bad it’s good. You can’t help but love it. The acting wasn’t super good, and the only truly good performance was Mason Thames, and occasionally McKenna Grace. Everyone else was very corny and goofy, with some line deliveries that just made me roll my eyes. But that’s the kind of film that this is. Sometimes the cringiness was what helped the mood. It distracts you from real life. Lastly, the score was alright, with nothing that stands out, but still fits the sentimental tone. Overall, this was a very silly and ridiculous film, but I couldn’t help but appreciate it because of the romance. I would recommend this to most rom-com fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
