Young Hearts
This I was not ready for. I heard about it through Instagram, after seeing a couple little short clips from it. It looked pretty good, so I decided to check it out, and my goodness, what a beautiful and wonderfully made film. It checks off literally every box: great characters, tension and resolvement, good music, fantastic acting, excellent dialogue, I could keep going on. It centers around Elias, who tries to go through life after he meets Alexander, and how they feel about each other. It’s definitely aggravating at times……there’s several things that happen that aren’t exactly what you’re hoping will happen. Like I said, there’s tension and resolvement. The first half of the film is absolutely amazing, as it introduces everyone quickly and efficiently, and you get attached to them. Then, some little bumps are in the road, and as Elias learns that he doesn’t need to change, that’s when you get so overwhelmed with emotion and love. His character is extremely relatable, and the acting performance from Lou Goossens is one of the best young actor performances I’ve seen in my life. The amount of feeling that beams from his eyes, both happy feelings and sadness, is astounding. You can feel his energy radiating so much just from his expressions. Gosh, especially the car scene with his mom towards the end. Holy crap. Just the amount of love and passion this entire film brings……indescribable. The dialogue was so realistic…..the feelings were so genuine…..the relationships were so authentic…….it’s one of the best representations of love and identity that I’ve ever seen. I’ll leave it at that. I could definitely go on for another million paragraphs, but I think I’ll leave it up to you to experience the same enjoyment I had with this. Everyone needs to watch it before they die. This film is officially Berry Approved!
