Sublime
I had never heard about this film until I saw a little clip from it on Instagram a couple hours ago. So I thought, “Impulse watch!” and immediately watched it. It wasn’t anything super spectacular, but it’s definitely a solid film. My biggest complaint out of the way, I think it feels way too long, even though it’s really not. There were just portions that felt drawn out, and the whole thing is kind of slow burn. It definitely takes time building up to Manuel’s confession to Felipe, so everything leading up to it basically just depicts their lives. On the flip side, it’s nice to see something very laid back. Especially with the music/band aspect, it gives the whole film a very carefree, do-it-yourself vibe. You just sit back and enjoy the chemistry and homemade music. However, that can be boring to some. Either way, I’ll settle in the middle. It’s not amazing, but it’s not boring. The acting was decent, though no one jumped out. The main characters were easy to connect to and identify. I mean, who hasn’t fallen in love with their best friend? Overall, this film is good, but didn’t blow me away. It was a good one time watch, and I’d probably recommend it to most drama/romance fans.
