28 Weeks Later
It would’ve been very difficult to make a sequel as good as ‘28 Days Later’, so to no one’s surprise, this film is weaker and just doesn’t have the weight that the first one has. I’m not saying it’s bad. I think it’s pretty solid, it just doesn’t really pass the line of great. But I think it’s better than most people give it credit for. While it makes plenty of connection to the first film, it still has its own story. Granted, the story isn’t anything super interesting, because after about the first half, I had lost interest. I obviously still watched and finished it, and it has a good ending. I’m very excited to see how the third film turns out, and I’ve heard nothing but fantastic things about it. Storyline wise, I’m very curious to see where it’s taken, and what the potential sequels would be about. But for this film, nothing grabbed me and kept me pulled in. The acting is solid but nothing that’s exceptional. It exceeds expectations at best. I will say I’m an enjoyer of Jeremy Renner and Rose Byrne, so seeing them in this was cool (same for Idris Elba). Even then, they aren’t super memorable. Most of the characters were pretty forgettable. The score was probably the best part of this whole thing, with a returning theme that puts a smile on a face. And that’s about all I can think to write right now. Nothing blew me away, but it’s still a decent sequel. I would only recommend it if you are a die hard zombie movie fan, or if you’re watching/prepping for the next one. Here’s to ‘28 Years Later’!
