Black Widow
Now, I’ve never really heard super favorable reviews about this film, but I’ll say one thing: this movie is for sure underrated. I definitely enjoyed it, and though it’s not one I rewatch too often, I think it’s got some decent character introductions and fun action. The placement of this film in the MCU release order is very…interesting, and I don’t fully agree with the decision behind it. It doesn’t make sense at all that they release a film about a character, after that character dies (even though this is a prequel). So getting this film after her death makes zero sense. However, despite that, I think the film was still exciting and entertaining. I loved learning more about Natasha’s history and family, and it’s a good way to usher in Yelena and Red Guardian. The story is good, though nothing we haven’t really seen before (other than more backstory). It kept me pulled in for most of the time. All the characters were good, and the inclusion of Florence Pugh and David Harbour was awesome (as I’ve said). They both help push the story forward, as well as make you appreciate Natasha even more. Plus, the duo of Pugh and Johansson is great, and I love their dynamic. I wasn’t super impressed by the music. Though some snippets of it were fun and intense, the majority of it wasn’t really special. It wasn’t necessarily bland, but it just sounded a bit cliche to me. Most of the effects were alright, although there were definitely a few that were a bit questionable. This definitely wasn’t one of Marvel’s finest when it comes to CGI. Overall, this is an entertaining film, and I’d recommend it to most MCU fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
